Letter of Invitation

Dear Members of the Bulgarian Geological Society (BGS), Colleagues and Friends,

On December 10 and 11, 2026, the GEOSCIENCES 2026 Scientific Conference with international participation will be held in the Aula of Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“, as well as on December 11, 2026 (after 5:00 PM) at the National Museum „Earth and Man.“ The event is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of the notable Bulgarian geologist Academician Georgi Bonchev (1866–1955) – one of the founders of mineralogy and petrography in Bulgaria and the first president of the BGS (1925). The scientific forum is organized by the Bulgarian Geological Society, the Faculty of Geology and Geography at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the Geological Institute “Strashimir Dimitrov” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Mineralogy and Crystallography “Acad. Ivan Kostov” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski”, the National Museum “Earth and Man” and the Scientific and Technical Union of Mining, Geology and Metallurgy. The Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in the work of the conference.

The GEOSCIENCES conferences have gained recognition as the most important annual event in Bulgaria in the field of geology and an authoritative forum of the geological community. Traditionally, the program of the conferences covers a broad spectrum of topics and focuses on the contemporary problems, perspectives and practical importance of the geological sciences. The GEOSCIENCES 2026 Conference provides unlimited options for presentation of all institutions dealing with geology (e.g. universities, institutes, laboratories, exploration and mining companies, etc.). The Organizing Committee of GEOSCIENCES 2026 invites all institutions that would like to promote their activities to join and contribute to the implementation of the scientific conference GEOSCIENCES 2026. The Organizing Committee especially encourage the active participation of young colleagues, post graduate and graduate students. The best presentations of young colleagues will be awarded.

The materials of the conference will be published in the Review of the Bulgarian Geological Society, v. 87, parts 2 and 3. Official languages of the Conference: Bulgarian and English
